Thanks all those who joined us for Flight Performance & Planning last time, feels like we only just scratched the surface of FPP more of that in the New Year! On Tuesday 9th November we begin our month of SPECIAL EDITION Ground Schools with Radio Telephony (RT) from 18:00 with friends of the flying school, our  guest speakers ATC and RT examiner Capt Helena Hughes and Radar Controller Amanda Rhodes.

Sounding competent when using the radio is an essential part of flying. Often students can be nervous when making a call to ATC (Air Traffic Control) but with training and plenty of practice you’ll be reciting your callsign in your in your sleep… GOLF-HOTEL-ECHO-ROMEO-ZULU! Our hot topics this week will be zone transits, traffic service, read backs and ATIS

Whether you are currently learning to fly, studying for your RT exam or just want to brush up your radio skills, this is a ‘not to be missed’ Ground School as we have invited not one but TWO special guests to help us all to refine our RT. Helena Hughes and Amanda Rhodes will be joining us in our virtual crew room; Amanda Rhodes is a Radar Controller, and Helena is a RT Oral Examiner, Air Traffic Controller, holds a CPL (A) , a PPL (H) and was also one of Capt. White’s students! Some of you may recognise Helena’s voice from the radio or perhaps she was your RT examiner?

With the nights drawing in we will again be relegated to our Virtual Crew Room via ‘ZOOM’. RSVP via email training@elstreehelicopters.co.uk and you will receive an invitation link from Capt. White to the meeting on Tuesday. This will be a fantastic opportunity to ask any questions you may have, test out your RT skills and get a masterclass in zone transits without having to fly at the same time!
