Student Trip to Jimmy’s Farm Autumn 2022
Elstree Helicopters Elstree Helicopters, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, United KingdomFly with us to this super Suffolk sanctuary. Our first visit was back in 2015 and has since become a bit of a favourite with self fly hirers as a lunch destination with friends or family. Great route options either along the south east coast or cross country with of course the added bonus of the Farm/Wildlife Park to enjoy when you arrive! Great food available on site with a few shops including a butchers/farm shop should you want to take a slice of Suffolk home for tea.

Isle of Wight Student Trip Autumn 2022
Elstree Helicopters Elstree Helicopters, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, United KingdomThe Isle of Wight is definitely one of our top trips. Join us for this 'island hopping' experience, transiting through London zones southbound to Portsmouth, we leave the mainland and fly across the Solent to IOW. This is a superb introduction to flying over water and great for advanced training. During the trip we'll have the opportunity to circumnavigate this beautiful English Isle not forgetting of course the take in the famous Needles. A warm welcome awaits at Sandown EGHN where we will fuel both aircraft and pilots before heading back to Elstree.

The Cotswolds Student Trip Autumn 2022

Heading West from Elstree we will take in the stunning views of this chocolate box region and on to the Severn Bridge before heading to Cotswold Airport formerly known as RAF Kemble via Highgrove. Once fuelled (aircraft and pilots) we head back via RAF Benson.

FREE Ground School – Navigation
Elstree Helicopters Elstree Helicopters, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, United KingdomOn Tuesday 31st January we will be focusing on Navigation at the usual time 18:00 - 20:00
When flying as PIC (pilot in command), you also need to become a navigator too. It’s critical you are able to apply the correct practices to navigational tasks and developing your navigation skills is the very essence of flying solo, hence the importance of this section of the PPL(H) syllabus.
The ability to Navigate is second only to physically flying the aircraft so to hone your NAV skills will be a huge benefit to your overall competence as a pilot; for student, self fly hirer, commercial pilot or aircraft owner. Specific topics to be confirmed

Student Trip to Heli Museum Weston-Super-Mare February 2023
Elstree Helicopters Elstree Helicopters, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, United KingdomThis is a REAL ROTORHEAD trip! The Helicopter Museum is the largest dedicated Helicopter Collection in the world with over 100 helicopters on display. Exhibits include two of the Queen's Royal Flight helicopters, the current world speed record holder G-LYNX, a Vietnam Veteran Huey and a Russian Hind Gun Ship.
Out of Elstree SW towards Marlow and Henley upon Thames continuing westbound over Reading and through RAF Benson MATZ turning at Newbury Racecourse, over Devizes remaining south of Bristol and to fly over one UK's famous geographical landmark Cheddar Gorge! From there it's NW to Weston Super Mare and the Heli Museum...

Student Trip to Padstow April 2023
Elstree Helicopters Elstree Helicopters, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, United KingdomJoin us as we head South West to Padstow, Cornwall. Landing at Rock we then transfer to the ferry by golf buggy before we head into Padstow for a well earned pasty or fish and chips by the harbour followed by an ice cream or cream tea. Take in the sea air as we stroll around the port and or for the more brave make your way down the beach and dip a toe in the water before heading back to the ferry and back to Elstree.
If you are currently learning to fly our student trips are great practise for navigation, straight and level flight and radio work as well of course as being jolly good fun! Already passed? These trips are a great excuse to use your PPL, hone your skills, hour build or just spend time with other pilots. Aircraft owners are also welcome to join us, the more the merrier!

Student Trip to Portsmouth April 2023
Elstree Helicopters Elstree Helicopters, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, United KingdomCapt Berry takes on another adventure... This time we head to Porstmouth! Taking the long way the trip will see us fly via London City eastbound along the Thames before circumnavigating Kent then following the south east coast all the way to Portsmouth landing at Lee. A quick transfer to the town for a stroll around the marina and the opportunity for some retail therapy at Gunwharf Queys not forgetting fish and chips before we head back to Elstree (the short way) and through the Heli Lanes.
If you are currently learning to fly our student trips are great practise for navigation, straight and level flight and radio work as well of course as being jolly good fun! Already passed? These trips are a great excuse to use your PPL, hone your skills, hour build or just spend time with other pilots. Aircraft owners are also welcome to join us, the more the merrier!

5 day UK Tour 2023
Elstree Helicopters Elstree Helicopters, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, United KingdomBack by popular demand... It's another opportunity to join our intrepid aviators as we revisit our EPIC UK Tour!
This 5 day trip circumnavigates the British Isles taking a coastal route. Departing from Elstree on day one we head south to Isle of Wight then west making Cornwall our first stop. Day two we head north to Wales including the Mach Loop and of course Snowdon. Day three sees us sightseeing the north west coast, following a historic railway through The Lake District and into Cumbria. Day four is our most ambitious of all as we venture to The Highlands! We scale Ben Nevis, search for Nessie in The Lochs and fly along the West coast of Scotland and back across the border. On the last day its seaside central as we follow the east coast all the way down to Felixstowe before heading west again and back up to Elstree.
