Student Trip to Jimmy’s Farm Spring 2021
Elstree Helicopters Elstree Helicopters, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, United KingdomFly with us to this super Suffolk sanctuary. Our first visit was back in 2015 and has since become a bit of a favourite with self fly hirers as a lunch destination with friends or family. Great route options either along the south east coast or cross country with of course the added bonus of the Farm/Wildlife Park to enjoy when you arrive! Great food available on site with a few shops including a butchers/farm shop should you want to take a slice of Suffolk home for tea.

Student Trip to the Isle of Wight Spring 2021

Join us for this 'island hopping' experience, transiting through London zones southbound to Portsmouth, we leave the mainland and fly across the Solent to IOW. This is a superb introduction to flying over water and great for advanced training. During the trip we'll have the opportunity to circumnavigate this beautiful English Isle not forgetting of course the take in the famous Needles. Fuelling for aircraft and pilots is available at Sandown which has plenty on offer or there's a super lunch at The Fighting Cocks before we head home.

Student Trip to Cromer Summer 2021
Elstree Helicopters Elstree Helicopters, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, United KingdomWhat better begin to our Summer selection than a trip to the seaside! Departing Elstree (bucket and spade optional), we head southbound through City Airport and the Isle of Dogs then follow The Thames out via the estuary and along the Essex and Suffolk coastline to Felixstowe then inland to Cromer Airfield. Time to hop in a taxi and to the sea! Of course no trip to the seaside would be complete without Fish and Chips followed by an ice-cream on the pier. Flying home we usually take a cross country route via Colchester, Chelmsford and Northweald Airfield.

Student Trip to The Cotswolds Summer 2021

Heading West from Elstree we will take in the stunning views of this chocolate box region and on to the Severn Bridge before heading to Cotswold Airport formerly known as RAF Kemble via Highgrove. Once fuelled (aircraft and pilots) we head back via RAF Benson.

Student Trip to Caernarfon via Lake Vyrnwy Summer 2021

An early start for a Saturday we depart Elstree initially Westbound via Bovingdon and turn right at Chequers changing our heading to North Westbound for Wales. We fly over Bicester and Weston on the Green, landmark spotting; Chateau Impney and Shrewsbury Hills and Lake Vyrnwy. We circumnavigate the reservoir and continue North for some mountaineering as we 'climb' Mt. Snowden! After we reach the summit we descend into Caernarfon Airport for fuel and lunch at The Caffi HEMS Cafe. Once suitably refreshed, we head South via the Magnificent Mach Loop before back retracing our steps to back home to Elstree.

Student Trip to Padstow Summer 2021
Elstree Helicopters Elstree Helicopters, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, United KingdomJoin us on our first trip of 2021 as we head South West to Padstow, Cornwall. Landing at Rock we then transfer to the ferry by golf buggy before we head into Padstow for a well earned pasty and/or cream tea. Take in the sea air as we stroll around the port and or for the more brave make your way down the beach and dip a toe in the water before heading back to the ferry and back to Elstree.

Starting early on Wednesday we fly north through Luton Zone to Northampton, Althorp routing between Birmingham and East Midlands. On to Alton Towers via Jodrell Bank where we great a fabulous view of the Lovell Telescope. Through the Manchester CTR, Haydock Race Course and Blackpool to refuel. Following the coastline to Morecambe Bay and then The Lakes! We stop for a spot of 'afternoon tea' at Storrs Hall Hotel, situated on the edge of Lake Windermere...

Student Trip to Heli Museum Weston-Super-Mare Summer 2021
Elstree Helicopters Elstree Helicopters, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, United KingdomThis is a REAL ROTORHEAD trip! The Helicopter Museum is the largest dedicated Helicopter Collection in the world with over 100 helicopters on display. Exhibits include two of the Queen's Royal Flight helicopters, the current world speed record holder G-LYNX, a Vietnam Veteran Huey and a Russian Hind Gun Ship.
Out of Elstree SW towards Marlow and Henley upon Thames continuing westbound over Reading and through RAF Benson MATZ turning at Newbury Racecourse, over Devizes remaining south of Bristol and to fly over one UK's famous geographical landmark Cheddar Gorge! From there it's NW to Weston Super Mare and the Heli Museum...
If you are currently learning to fly our student trips are great practise for navigation, straight and level flight and radio work as well of course as being jolly good fun! Already passed? These trips are a great excuse to use your PPL, hone your skills, hour build or just spend time with other pilots. Aircraft owners are also welcome to join us, the more the merrier! -
Student Trip to Brockencote Hall Summer 2021
Elstree Helicopters Elstree Helicopters, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, United KingdomWestbound to home of the PM 'Chequers', NW to Bicester, Stratford upon Avon, turning at Chateau Impney NE of Droitwich Spa before making our landing at Brockencote Hall. Lunch or Afternoon Tea awaits at the Chaddlesey restaurant and hopefully a few flying anecdotes! After our finger sandwiches and macarons it is back to base using a reverse route.
