The Robinson R22 trial lesson is designed to give a taste of what it is to fly a helicopter. Tuition is divided equally between the aircraft and the classroom
Your lesson will include the following;
- A pre-flight briefing with an experienced helicopter pilot
- You’ll discover the principles of flight, how the helicopter flies and is controlled, including start-up and shut down procedures
- An opportunity to take the controls and see how exhilarating it is to fly!
- Certificate of achievement
- Post-flight debrief and the chance to purchase any photos or footage from your flight
- Vouchers have a 6 month expiry and are non-transferable or refundable

Description
The Robinson R22 trial lesson is designed to give a taste of what it is to fly a helicopter. This air experience covers exercise 3 and is the perfect way to tick a box on your wish list or to begin your flying journey
The lesson is split 50/50 between the cockpit and the classroom, where we will ensure you fully understand the basic aircraft safety checks, procedures plus necessary ground and airborne emergency drills. You will then be taken through the protocol for the dual controls of the helicopter. As we don’t have the luxury of auto-pilot it must be clear who has control at all times.
A member of our ground handling team will take you to the aircraft when after a photo opportunity, you will meet your instructor and take your seat in the helicopter. If you are part of a group you maybe required to enter/exit the heli with rotors running. After final checks, then you will experience the incredible feeling of vertical take-off and the euphoric sense of freedom as you see the landscape from a 360˚ viewpoint. Whilst you familiarise yourself with the new sensations of helicopter flight, your instructor will introduce you to the geography of the aerodrome and local area. Your instructor will decide when it is appropriate for you to take the controls and truly feel what it is like to live the dream and FLY! The lesson concludes with a hover challenge where you will try and maintain a well controlled hover for as long as possible.
The 30min trial lesson is only available on selected weekdays. The longer 60/120min trial lessons are exclusive and have a greater flexibility on dates and days.
