Virtual Ground School – Radio Telephony
Elstree Helicopters Elstree Helicopters, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, United KingdomWe hope you enjoyed last week’s Flight Performance & Planning Ground School. Next up it’s Radio Telephony on Tuesday 11th May from 18:00-20:00 Whether you are currently learning to fly, studying for your RT exam or just want to brush up your radio skills, this is another 'not to be missed' Ground School as we have invited not one but two RT experts to join us in our virtual crew room. Some of you will recognise their voices from the radio or remember from previous sessions... Capt Helena Hughes an RT Oral Examiner, Air Traffic Controller, holds a CPL (A) , a PPL (H) and was also one of Capt. White's students! AND friend of the flying school Amanda Rhodes who is Radar Controller for Essex and Luton Approach.
SO if you need HOTEL-ECHO-LIMA-PAPA with your ROMEO-TANGO This will be a fantastic opportunity to ask any questions you may have about using the radio, protocols, test out your RT skills and get a masterclass in zone transits without having to fly at the same time!

Next up we throwback to a lockdown favourite on Tuesday 22nd June it's our PPL(H) Quiz Night at the later time slot 19:00 - 21:00 The quiz, as always, will be based on questions across the entire theoretical knowledge syllabus with lots of flying and helicopter ones too from ALPHA to ZULU!

Virtual Ground School – Human Performance & Limitations
Elstree Helicopters Elstree Helicopters, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, United KingdomWe hope you enjoy our QUIZ NIGHT! Both teams pitted their wits against Capt. White’s (rather tricky this time) PPL questions. Team EN-GER-LAND fought valiantly scoring the number of players on the pitch 22/31 but were out classed by the very inappropriately named opposition GROSSLY UNDERPREPARED who scored a back of the net tastic 30/31. Thanks to all our players (pilots, students or other) and of course our referee/quiz master.
This week Tuesday 6th July we will be looking at Human Performance & Limitations at the usual time 18:00 - 20:00
Human error is cited as a major cause in over 70% of accidents, and it is widely agreed that a better understanding of human capabilities and limitations - both physical and psychological - would help reduce human error and improve flight safety.
